Rail Line Upgrade, Georges Plains and Wimbledon

Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) is undertaking signal commissioning works in Georges Plains and Wimbledon, adjacent to Saint Johns Rd and Newbridge Rd, as part of the NSW Government’s rail infrastructure program across the country rail network.

Works are being completed by TfNSW’s contractor, John Holland Rail (JHR). JHR operate and maintain the Country Regional Network across NSW under a ten year contract with TfNSW.

 

Works involve:

We will be undertaking signal and track circuit testing and commissioning activities, related to the construction of the passing loop for freight and passenger services at Georges Plains.

 

Why is the work being completed? 

We are verifying the integrity of the track signalling system and will help improve reliability on the network.

 

When will work commence?

We will be working from 15 February 2019 until 18 February 2019, subject to final approvals and weather conditions.

Site operations are expected to run from 7:00am Friday to 2:00am Monday. 

 

How will I be affected? 

There will be minimal noise and extra vehicle movements during the day and night to facilitate works. We appreciate your patience as these works are completed.
